Our grandmothers’ cookers may have hissed on the stove causing fear in the hearts of everyone in the kitchen, but today’s models are safer and more efficient.

Bruce Weinstein and Mark Scarbrough are the authors of the national best-seller THE GREAT BIG PRESSURE COOKER BOOK. It has over 500 recipes, with each one calibrated for both electric and stovetop cookers. Bruce and Mark are returning to HGS Home Chef for a low-pressure afternoon of fun and food while you learn hands-on how to work with these must-have chef tools.

This dynamic duo will instruct you through a menu that includes a risotto in minutes without stirring and rich and flavorful beef stew that won’t take all day. Don’t feel the pressure, just come cook (and eat) with us!
This class is limited in size will be divided into three teams. Each group making two recipes with a fabulous shared lunch afterwards.

Group 1:
Risotto with Butternut Squash and Porcini
Provencal-Style Beef Stew with Olives, Brandy, and Bacon
Group 2:
Risotto with Peas and Brie
Venetian-Style Beef Stew with Onions and Vinegar
Group 3:
Risotto with Crab, Lemon and Asparagus
Curried Beef Stew with Potatoes

Bruce Weinstein and Mark Scarbrough are a cooking-writing duo with lots (and we mean lots) of creative energy. They’ve written a shelf full of cookbooks, teach all over the country, write for newspapers, appear on television and love (and create) great food. You’ll find their class chock full of essential tips while being wildly entertaining.
