In this hands-on class, Glendy Yeung will guide you through the art of making 5-spice vegetable dumplings entirely from scratch, from making and folding the dough to mastering the pleats. As a vegetarian who knows the joy of reaching into the freezer for a homemade stash, Glendy’s dumplings, whether pan fried or boiled, are wonderfully fragrant, deeply satisfying, and worth every fold. The class closes with a bowl of tremella mushroom sweet soup, a silky, nourishing Cantonese dessert that has been quietly cherished for generations and is finding a new wave of devotees for its collagen-rich benefits. Glendy Yeung grew up in Hong Kong, where food is a second language and eating well is a way of life. A passionate vegetarian home cook, Glendy has spent decades collecting techniques and flavors from cooking classes taken throughout her travels around the world. She finds equal inspiration in dishes that stop her in her tracks and in the food of her childhood, the flavors her grandmothers made that live somewhere between memory and appetite. Her dumpling club, a monthly gathering of friends around a shared table, is where tradition, curiosity, and community meet. What Glendy brings to the table is the real thing: authentic Chinese home cooking in its most personal form, a deep love of feeding people, and the unshakeable conviction that the best food is always made by hand.
